Terms of use
These terms cover the use of this website. They are not the terms of a consulting engagement — that work is governed by a separate written agreement, and nothing here changes it.
Using the site
You are welcome to read it, quote from it with attribution, and link to it. What you may not do is interfere with it: no attempts to break, overload, or gain access to anything that is not published, no automated scraping that degrades it for anyone else, and no presenting its content as somebody else’s work.
Who owns what is on it
The writing, the design, the illustrations and the code are ours, except for the parts that plainly are not. Those are used under their own licences and remain the property of their authors:
Each of those is set out in full, with its author and its terms, on the licences page.
Product, platform and vendor names used on this site — Microsoft 365, VMware, FortiGate, Cisco and the rest — are the trademarks of their respective owners. We name them because we work with them. Naming one is not a claim of partnership, endorsement, or authorisation unless the page says so explicitly.
No warranty, and no engagement
The site is provided as it is. We try to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise either, and we do not promise that a particular figure on it will still be right next quarter. Reading it, using the cost calculator, or sending the enquiry form does not create a consulting relationship, a contract, or any obligation on either side. That begins when both of us have signed something.
Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, North Rain Technologies is not liable for loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on anything published here — including the estimates, hour ranges and comparisons, all of which are illustrative. Nothing in this paragraph limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Links to other sites
Where we link outward, it is because the destination was useful at the time. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they do or publish.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about them belongs in the courts of British Columbia.
Changes
We may revise this page. The date at the top is the honest record of when it last happened, and continued use of the site after that is acceptance of the revision.
