Licences
Parts of this site were made by other people. Here is what they are, what they do, and the terms we use them under.
raindrop-fx
SardineFish · MIT licence
The rain running down the glass behind every page. It is a WebGL2 shader that simulates droplets refracting whatever sits behind them, rather than a video loop or a sprite sheet, which is why it stays sharp and reacts to the window size.
Source and licence: github.com/SardineFish/raindrop-fx. A copy of the MIT licence ships with the file we serve.
Ambient rain recording
alex36917 · Creative Commons Attribution 3.0
The two minutes of rainfall behind the “Relax with rain” button. Two playheads run against the same recording at an offset and cross-fade, so there is no audible seam where the loop restarts.
Licence terms: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0. Attribution is the condition of that licence, which is why this entry exists.
Geist and Geist Mono
Vercel · SIL Open Font License 1.1
Every word on the site. Both are variable fonts carrying the full weight axis in a single file, served from this domain rather than from a font host — so nothing about your visit is reported to a third party in order to render the type.
Source and licence: github.com/vercel/geist-font.
Everything else
The writing, the layout, the illustrations, the data models behind the calculators and the code that runs all of it are ours. Nothing on this site is a purchased template, and no part of it loads from a content delivery network, an analytics service, or an advertising network — a decision explained in more detail on the privacy page.
If we have missed something
Attribution is easy to get wrong and worth getting right. If you recognise work of yours here that is not credited, or credited incorrectly, write to hello@northrain.ca and it will be fixed the same week.
